Two Legendary Warriors of Bhutan

The two Legendary warriors of Bhutan have played important roles. Both Pala and Pila were born as the descendants and close relatives of brotherhood through Kurtoe Dungkar Choeje. Both Pala and Pila have come from the noble blood offspring and direct Buddha lineage of Terchen Pema Lingpa. For several generations, Dungkar Choeje family remained renowned for having individuals of extraordinary character. Even today Pala and Pila are remembered as celebrited legendary heroes of Bhutan. They were both superhuman with incredible strength accomplishing martial tactics. When Pala and Pila were young, they left home and followed their own adventures heading different directions.

the elder brother joined court of Paro Peonlop whereas Pila the younger brother went to Punakha to accompany Zhabdrung and when returning home Pila also joined the service of the Trongsa Peonlop. However, one day both regions Paro and Trongsa decided to hold a friendly athletic competition since Sword competition was traditionally a popular event on such occasions. The battle continued for longer duration because both Pala and Pila were so much energetic and the fighting skills was amazing full of stamania. The sword fight continued until Pala remarked. "You must be my brother Pila." "And, you must be my brother Pala!" Pila responded.

This anecdote clearly states us that there were no other swordsmen as strong as Pala and Pila. They recognized each other through their incredible strength and skill as swordsmen. After their fights, Pala and Pila departed once again just the way how they departed during their younger days, following their own path serving a particular regions. The battle was unpredictable since both of their skills were equally powerful and it is even belief that they were the Legendary warriors existed during 16th century. However, after Pala and Pila. Another legend was born eminently known as Jigme Namgyal who became the 48th Druk Desi of Bhutan. Consequently, Jigme Namgyal gave birth to Wangchuk Dynasty and even today our diligent Monarchs are recognized as Wangchuk Dynasty protecting and nurturing a developing country like Bhutan from bottom of their heart and as Bhutanese we need to show gratitude to our farsighted forefathers since they are the primary heroes of Bhutan.
